The Yarnbombing Project Finale brought colour, creativity, and community spirit to life in Bicentennial Park, transforming the Picasso Guitar sculpture into a vibrant celebration of artistic collaboration.
This joyful installation was made possible through the creativity, care, and collaboration of our region’s talented makers. Special thanks go to the Narrabri Women’s Shed, Boobooks of Armidale, Moree Women’s Craft Group, and the Tamworth Knitting Group for their beautifully handcrafted contributions that stitched stories of connection and craft into every thread.
A heartfelt thank you to Jules Warner and Lauren Mackley whose inspired leadership brought joy and vision to the installation process, helping transform an idea into a striking reality.
Running until Monday 28 July 2025, the installation stood proudly as a centrepiece of the Hats Off To Country Festival, drawing crowds and smiles from near and far. Visitors experienced the artwork as a riot of colour and creativity, handcrafted by community members from across New England North West.
The event buzzed with community activities — from live country music by the talented Carly Robinson, to drop-in crochet and knitting workshops, and steaming cups of soup and hot drinks that warmed hands and hearts alike.
This vibrant project was brought to life thanks to the generous support of Arts North West, Tamworth Regional Gallery, and Tamworth Regional Council. Together, each partner contributed a vital thread to the fabric of this unforgettable community celebration.
Though the yarn may come down, the memories and the spirit of connection, will linger long after the final stitch.
