Heritage Week 2026 – Event Submissions Now Open
Arts North West invites museums, galleries, historical societies, local councils, and community organisations to take part in Heritage Week 2026—a vibrant, region-wide celebration of the stories, places, and people that define the New England North West.
Running from 18 April to 18 May 2026, Heritage Week is an opportunity to open doors, share knowledge, and connect communities through meaningful cultural and heritage experiences.
2026 Theme: Change
The 2026 theme, Change, invites us to reflect on how our communities, landscapes, and stories have evolved over time—and how they continue to shape our future.
From environmental shifts and technological advancements to social movements and cultural transformations, change is at the heart of every heritage story. This theme encourages us to explore both continuity and transformation: what has been preserved, what has been lost, and what is still emerging.
We encourage event organisers to engage with the theme in creative and thought-provoking ways. This could include:
Exploring how places and communities have transformed over time
Sharing stories of resilience, adaptation, and innovation
Highlighting changing cultural practices and traditions
Reflecting on the impact of historical events on today’s society
Showcasing future-focused perspectives on heritage
Be Part of the Program
We are now calling for submissions for the official NENW Museums & Heritage Program 2026.
We welcome a wide range of events, including:
Exhibitions and open days
Guided tours and heritage walks
Talks, lectures, and panel discussions
Workshops and demonstrations
Cultural and community events
Digital or online experiences
By participating, your event will be included in a coordinated regional promotion campaign, helping you:
Reach new and broader audiences
Increase visitation and community engagement
Strengthen connections across the heritage and cultural sector
Why Get Involved?
Heritage Week is more than a program—it’s a celebration of community. It brings together organisations and audiences from across the region to share stories, preserve knowledge, and foster a deeper appreciation of our collective past.
Whether you’re a small volunteer-run museum, a large cultural institution, or a community group with a story to tell, your contribution is an important part of this shared experience.
Promotion & Distribution
By participating, your event will be included in a coordinated regional promotion campaign, helping you reach a wide and diverse audience.
The program will be:
Distributed through the Arts North West NENW Museums & Heritage contact list
Promoted across Arts North West social media channels
Featured in a dedicated newsletter mail-out
Shared with local libraries across the region, with printed copies made available for community access
This ensures your event is visible both online and in local communities, increasing reach and accessibility.
Submit Your Event
Submitting your event is simple. Provide your event details through our online form, and our team will work to include your listing in the official program and promotional activities.
Submit your event today and help bring Heritage Week 2026 to life. All submissions are due by 5.00pm Thursday 16 April, 2026
