New England Sculpture Track (NEST) – Project Overview

The New England Sculpture Track (NEST) is an ambitious regional public art initiative that will establish one of Australia's most significant outdoor sculpture experiences across the New England North West. Connecting Bendemeer, Walcha and, over time, additional communities throughout the region, NEST brings together a collection of nationally and internationally recognised sculptural works within a distinctive regional landscape.

At its heart, NEST is a celebration of place, creativity and cultural connection. The project transforms public spaces into open-air galleries, creating opportunities for residents and visitors to engage with contemporary sculpture outside traditional gallery settings. Positioned within the natural environment of the New England tablelands, the works invite reflection on landscape, identity, history, movement and human interaction with place.

The collection features works by some of Australia's most respected sculptors and includes a diverse range of materials, forms and artistic approaches, from large-scale steel constructions and environmental sculpture to conceptual and figurative works. Together, these artworks create a dynamic dialogue between art, landscape and community.

NEST positions the New England region as a destination for cultural tourism, artistic excellence and public engagement while providing an enduring platform for artists and communities to connect through contemporary visual arts.
