First Nations artists from the New England North West (NENW) proudly represented the region at the 2025 National Indigenous Art Fair (NIAF), held in Sydney over the weekend of Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 July.

Museums & Galleries of NSW Announce the New England Participants in the 2025 Standards Program

An exciting opportunity has arisen for digital artists in the Tamworth region. Some may recognise the Outdoor Gallery as a place where projections have been played on buildings in the Fitzroy Street Plaza area during events such as the Lighting of the Christmas Tree. Local artists now have the chance to showcase their work on here too, as Tamworth Regional Gallery in collaboration with Arts North West are calling for expressions of interest for works to be displayed.

The Work of Art pilot program, aimed at fostering business development for women in the creative industries across regional NSW, recently culminated in a vibrant two-day showcase in Orange. This initiative, led by Regional Arts New South Wales (RANSW) and funded by Women NSW, brought together over 60 women from diverse arts practices to celebrate their achievements and explore the unique challenges and opportunities of working regionally.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of local textile artist, felter, and hat maker Jo-Anne Barr, who received the Established Designers Encouragement Award for her innovative ensemble.

Two engaging workshops hosted at UNE Tamworth by Arts North West and E.S Emojong Consultancy are set to provide invaluable insights for professionals in youth activities and public art planning.

Arts North West are looking for people with lived experience to be part of our Enable Arts Steering Committee. The Arts North West Enable Arts Steering Committee will support ANW and its staff with guidance and decision-making, strategic planning, advice, and feedback. 

Arts North West, a dynamic organisation supporting arts and cultural development across the New England North West region, is seeking a passionate and skilled individuals to join our volunteer, skills-based board. We are specifically looking for someone with expertise in human resources (HR) and/or legal affairs to contribute to our mission of fostering creativity, community engagement, and cultural growth.

Arts North West is delighted to announce the fantastic news that Lauren Mackley, our esteemed Executive Director, is expecting her second child with partner Dion. We are thrilled to celebrate this exciting chapter in Lauren’s life and wish her all the very best as her family grows. Lauren will be taking a 12-month maternity leave, beginning in January 2024, to focus on this wonderful new challenge. 

While Lauren takes this well-deserved leave, we are thrilled to announce that her role will be filled by Miranda Heckenberg.
