In Our Hands

In Our Hands was a two-year project provided Aboriginal-led hands-on curatorial skills and cultural support to 10 Aboriginal people currently working within the arts sector (galleries/cultural centres) throughout service footprint of Arts North West and Outback Arts. Learned skills were taken home to implement in workplaces, business practices, institutions and the development of opportunities in community to ensure cultural protection, best practice, and sustainability. This project is funded by the Indigenous Language and Arts (ILA) Program with a focus on regional of NSW.

For Our Elders, It's In Our Hands

This project culminated in a public exhibition at Outback Arts Creative Arts Gallery in Coonamble, NSW. The exhibition explored artworks, objects and artefacts carefully curated by ten first nations artists and emerging curators as part of the first nations led curatorial intensive program. The exhibition ‘For our Elders, it’s in our hands’ explored the stories, Cultural Practices and wisdom from Elders that have guided the narratives and themes of this exhibition. A reverence for the Connection to Country is evident in each piece. The yearning for language elevates the artworks and provides a sense of identity and cultural growth
