BLAKView is a professional development program for Aboriginal and regional NSW artists and arts workers in the Outback Arts, Arts North West and Arts OutWest regions. It helps participants build their skills in critical writing in the arts.

The program mixes a face-to-face intensive in Orange with online workshops and mentoring. Participants build confidence, develop their own voice and work towards publishing their writing.

About the Program

BLAKView fills a gap in regional arts practice: there are too few diverse voices in critical writing and cultural commentary.

The program supports participants to:

develop skills in review writing and critical analysis

engage with exhibitions and artistic work through a critical lens

build confidence in sharing cultural and creative perspectives

explore pathways to publication and paid writing work

Facilitator Dr Suzie Gibson, Senior Lecturer in English at Charles Sturt University, will support participants at the online workshops and the Orange intensive.
