About

The Poet's Precinct - The Gunnedah Water Tower Museum

Perched on Anzac Hill, the Gunnedah Water Tower Museum houses a vast collection of treasures, including historical artefacts and records. Originally a water tower built in 1908, it was renovated into a museum over 12 years, opening in 1980. In 2019, renowned mural artist Jenny McCracken adorned the water tower with a mega mural honouring Vietnam War veterans. The mural features Australian soldiers standing to attention at the Long Tan Cross, as well as soldiers waiting to board Huey helicopters.
