About

Gunnedah Water Tower Museum (Gunnedah & District Historical Society Inc)

The Water Tower Museum opens doors to the shire’s past and current history … in word and pictures.

The museum has countless photographic images in its files along with a display of watercolours and drawings by the late John McDonagh who painted the town’s historic buildings and monuments.

There is a collection of beautiful gowns and the top floor features a mural of the early Indigenous history and the arrival of European explorers.

The external walls feature two large murals honouring our Vietnam War veterans by artist Jenny McCracken and are part of the Australian Silo Art Trail.

Opening Hours

10am to 2pm Saturdays, and on Monday mornings while volunteers are working. Or by appointment.
