2018 WALCHA SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM (WSS)

This was a week-long event providing a unique opportunity for the public to observe the creative process (from concept to creation) of five professional artists working on outdoor sculpture.

These sculptures were then to become permanent additions to Walcha’s Open Air Gallery.

The WSS also consisted of several micro events throughout the week; 'Meet the Artists Dinner', an 'Open Studio Afternoon' where the public could observe the works in progress and engage with the artists, an 'Exhibition Opening' of the participating artist's previous works, 'Public Guided Tours of the Open Air Gallery' and finally the 'Sculpture Concluding Show'.

The event was funded through Regional Arts Fund NSW, Walcha Council and the Community.

THE SCULPTURE

Moonbeams is a pavilion that casts shadows of the sun and of the moon and serves as a conduit between sky and earth.
