A Night of Light, Projection and Creative Placemaking

What happens when a main street falls asleep?

Buildings come alive with moving projections. Giant illuminated whales drift overhead. Glowing jellyfish float through the night. Familiar streets transform into dreamlike landscapes where light, art and imagination reshape the ordinary into the extraordinary.

​Presented by Big Sky Studio's, Arts North West, Tamworth Regional Gallery and funded by Visa Vibe, Mainstreets Australia and Create NSW - When Main Streets Dream is an immersive night-time public art experience that transforms Tamworth's Fitzroy Street Plaza into a temporary landscape of projection, light, sound and creative exploration.

​Featuring six projection experiences, interactive digital artworks, creative lighting, temporary inflatable sculptural installations and live ambient music, the event invites visitors of all ages to experience the CBD in a completely new way.

When Main Streets Dream demonstrates how creativity can activate public spaces, support regional artists and strengthen the night-time economy while creating memorable experiences for communities across the New England North West.

​At the heart of the project is a commitment to investing in regional creative talent. Seven commissioned creatives—Nick Hunt, Daniel Elliott, Daniel Stanley, Pat Harris, Logan Hughes, Ethan Lazinos and Moral Lackley—have developed original site-responsive works that transform Fitzroy Street Plaza through animation, projection, digital storytelling and immersive visual art.

This event also festures artwork created by students from Tamworth Art Academy, who have worked alongside professional artists Daniel Stanley and Logan Hughes through a creative mentorship program.
