Armidale Women's Stories Historic Walking Tour

Armidale's Women's Stories Historic Walking Tour shows you the city through the lives of women who challenged expectations, built careers, led communities and helped shape Armidale. Designed by Sarah Newsome with event support from Arts North West, the tour premieres at Creative Streets Armidale on Saturday 17 October 2026. It then runs on 24 October, 31 October and 7 November.

In just a few city blocks, you'll uncover the connections between some of Armidale's most familiar buildings and the trailblazers, leaders and changemakers linked to them. Their achievements span medicine, the military, sport, social justice, government and firefighting. Women have always been part of Armidale's public history, and this tour puts their names and stories back into the streetscape.

Arts North West Executive Director Lauren Mackley said: "What makes this project particularly special is that those stories are also giving back. Audiences aren't simply buying a ticket to hear about Armidale's past; their participation is helping support organisations doing important work in Armidale today."

Proceeds from Women's Stories tours go to the Armidale Women's Shelter, linking stories of women's strength and contribution with practical support for women in the community today.
