‘A Letter to My Returning…’ is a creative recovery response project aiming to work with those who have been affected by the flood events of 2021/2022.

Arts North West engaged local artists from flood-affected communities to create artworks and creative documentation that reflected on the flood events that affected the region.

Artists who created a body of work for A Letter to My Returning include:

Maree Kelly, Audrey Fogg, Marie Low, Lena Smith, Jo Duck, Lisa Marple, Tania Hartigan, Ethan Towns, Jade Punch, Alyssa Barwick, Helen Stanley, Mark Washington & Amy Canfield.

The letters and artworks were carefully curated to form a touring exhibition ‘Letter to My Returning…’ and visited regional locations across the New England North West, including Bank Art Museum Moree, Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery and the Wee Waa Arts and Cultural Centre.

The collaborative nature of the project empowered participants to take ownership of their recovery process as well as a platform to share their experiences, concerns and ideas, fostering agency and resilience.
