The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships

The Marten Bequest supports talented young artists to explore, study and develop their artistic gifts. Scholarship funds can pay for structured study, professional training, mentorships, self-directed travel, independent research, and studio or residency time in Australia or overseas.

Your proposal must show how you will use the funds over the two years, from June 2027 to June 2029. - In 2027 the scholarships support architecture, ballet, prose, sculpture and singing. - Who can apply: Australian citizens aged 21 to 35 at closing. For ballet, the age range is 17 to 35. You cannot apply if you have an overdue grant report, owe money to Creative Australia, or have previously received a Marten Bequest grant.

Key details: Amount $50,000, paid in quarterly instalments over two years.

Applications close Tuesday 2 February 2027, 3pm AEDT, or earlier if the application limit is reached. Notification by the end of April 2027.
