Land of the Beardies Museum & Research Centre

LAND of the BEARDIES MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTRE

Opened in 1970, the museum houses a unique collection of local artifacts and memorabilia dating back to the early settlers of Glen Innes & District and encompassing the community’s Celtic heritage.

There are 26 display rooms, all housed in the Heritage Listed original Glen Innes Hospital buildings. There is always something new to see.

A variety of equipment is displayed in the parklike grounds and within two machinery sheds.

Level access is available from the rear car park, located off Ferguson Street.

The Research Centre contains a very extensive collection of resources available for research into family and local history, including more than 66,000 photographs. Appointments are preferred as staff need to be on hand to assist with research.

Venue for hire for seminars, workshops and meetings.

Coach groups are a speciality; catering provided by arrangement.

Visitors are invited to join us for a free morning and afternoon tea.
