King Parrot Studios

King Parrot Studios (Jonathan Wallis, Director)

King Parrot Studios is a community creative hub created by Jonathan Wallis in 2026, open 7 days a week with musical instruments and games made available for people of all ages to play.

The building at 68 Court Street Manilla New South Wales was constructed as a motor garage in 1933. Following WW2 and up until the 1960s, it functioned as various machinery and vehicle dealerships. When the Girl Guide Association acquired the property during the 1970s, community members renovated the building to include a working kitchen, several storage and rest rooms and a bathroom at the rear, creating a workable space for Girl Guide activities.

The facility was then regularly used by Manilla Central School for assemblies and classes in wet weather, and by pre-school, sport and community groups on a regular basis. The space was also open to many privately catered functions up until the early 2000s, when current owners bought the building. The Manilla Guide Hall's long-time use as a community space continues today in its role of creative hub, offering opportunities across the creative arts in a welcoming open space and providing a meeting place for the local community.

Being a large space with flexible seating, it is ideal for comfortable social and business meetings. Specialty tea & coffee is on offer while ever the doors are open, along with cool drinks, milkshakes and soft-serve ice cream.
Whilst being primarily focused on music, this innovative enterprise provides a large open area suitable for all manner of creative activities and the facilitators welcome enquiries from creators keen to share their expertise with others.

The King Parrot space has been designed with community access in mind and a special focus placed on inspiring people of all ages to enjoy music. To that end, the venue is licensed to play from a wealth of recorded tracks selected from a vast global catalogue and the venue’s own extensive vinyl record and compact disc collection, which forms the basis of its music genre clubs. Whether live streamed or played on the Studios’ high quality vintage and contemporary systems, music adds to the atmosphere of this welcoming space.

King Parrot Studios also provides a setup and repair service for stringed instruments and stocks a small range of consumables for the local musician.

In addition to the main public space, 3 additional rooms are available - 2 for individual teaching and one larger room set up for group rehearsals or recording sessions.
The venue also features a professional movie theatre system with a 3.5 metre projection screen for running films, videos and podcasts with digital equipment also being available for seminars and presentations.

Additionally, a PA system and Karaoke machine add to the versatility of equipment ready for parties and open mic performances, both onsite and elsewhere.

King Parrot Studios' spacious outdoor frontage is suitable for musician, band and other performance events and with its doors open wide, the facility boasts no steps, making it accessible to all levels of physical ability, with no barrier to wheelchair or mobility scooter access throughout.
