Centenary Cottage Museum

Built as a private residence in 1871, Centenary Cottage is a fine example of colonial architecture. The Cottage now houses a large collection of memorabilia and historical material relating to settlement in Tenterfield and its surrounding district.

Within the complex is the Chauvel Gallery built as a memorial to Sir Harry Chauvel, the first Australian to command a military corps who is known for his role in the Battle of Beersheba. It tells the story of the formation of the NSW Mounted Infantry, whose headquarters were in Tenterfield. Artifacts and memorabilia from WW 2 are also on display.

Petrie Cottage, an 1860s cottage, is also a part of the complex. It reflects a typical working family's lifestyle of that era. Various sheds display the tools and machinery used in the agricultural and manufacturing industries of the Shire.
