Public art statue of singer/ song writer John Williamson cast in bronze by artist Tanya Bartlett was located in Peel Street and launched during the 2022 Tamworth Country Music Festival. John Williamson, Kevin Anderson, Max Ellis and the Governor General all spoke at this launch.

At the unveiling, Col Buchanan’s moving eulogy about John summed up perfectly his significance to our country while the Governor General and our Mayor both offered powerful endorsements of our Statue. The last word goes to Tanya Bartlett, our brilliant sculptor, the more we see of the statue, the more the likeness to John shines though.

Fundraising efforts have secured over $90,000 to ensure this statue has come to fruition, after a solid year raising the considerable sum and this is a similar story with funding for the Smoky and Slim and Joy projects, now a fine, life size, bronze statue of the spirit and tradition of legends like Henry Lawson, Banjo Paterson, Dame Mary Gilmore and Slim Dusty.
