Bronze bust on granite plinth, bronze inscription made by Peter Latona.

Gordon Parsons was born in Paddington, Sydney on 24th December, 1926. The family moved to Cooks Creek, Bellingen when Gordon was three years old, thus beginning the influence and love of the bush that stayed with Gordon for the rest of his life.

Gordon toured with major country music acts such as Slim Dusty in the 1940s and in 1979 he added his hand prints to the "Hands of Fame" exhibition in Tamworth. In between tours, Gordon 'went bush' to write more songs and go fishing. Gordon used to say "I've written some of my best songs in the bush."
