This public art installation was commissioned by artist Josh Chaffey and is located in the Library and Gallery foyer at 466 Peel Street to celebrate Tamworth’s history as the City of Light on the 130th anniversary.

Josh Chaffey's work is a celebration of Tamworth's lesser known accolade of principally supplying the region with electricity prior to the advent of the state electricity grid. From Texas in the north to Murrurundi in the south, Deepwater in the east to Wee Waa in the west, 41 columns of light represent 41 significant towns and localities supplied with electricity by Tamworth at the height of its electrical independence. The placements of the tubes to north, south, east and west loosely reflects the position of settlements they represent. Similarly, the length and rigging heights of the fixtures corresponds to geographic elevation and population data of the time.
