This Stringybark sculpture by regional artist Steven King from Walcha demonstrates his sculptural skills made with chainsaw carving techniques.

Stephen King is a high profile international sculptor who has received many awards including the Macquarie Group Sculpture Prize of $60,000 for his entry in the prestigious ‘Sculpture by the Sea’ at Bondi in 2013. Other awards received for entries in this competition alone have included the Artistic Excellence Program (2014), Waverley Council’s Park Staff prize (2013), Curators’ Prize (2011) and Sherman Galleries Award in 1999. One of his most recent large works has been shown in the international sculpture exhibition held in Denmark. Stephen King’s work is represented in numerous collections including Parliament House in Canberra.
