Stephanie Creigh

Stephanie Creigh is a 22 year old, self-taught artist currently living in Tamworth, New South Wales.

Creating contemporary landscape paintings directly inspired by Australia and its many terrains. Stephanie has developed a distinct style of art-making in appreciation for the land. By incorporating vibrant acrylic colours, texture and mark-making with the use of a gel impasto mix in medium.

The emotional connection to the land is supported through my art-making.

Applying daubs of acrylic paint, offset by different mark-making created with the end of a paint brush, I love to build an array of patterns and textures. To help build my paint, I use a mix-in gel impasto medium. Recently, I've been experimenting with bright and vibrant colours such as pinks, oranges and blues.

I have developed a distinct technique of applying light on dark and dark on light, which contributes to the rich tertiary colour palette and symbolises Australia’s varied landscape.

My driving motivation for creating landscape paintings is to redefine our relationship with the land.

By exaggerating the colours, my intention is to create a catalyst of emotion. Mirroring the organic lines and shapes of each landscape, both elicit and exchanges memories within the audience.
