About

With over 40 years devoted to the craft of glass artistry, my journey began in the late 1970s, sparked by a deep fascination for glass art during my travels along the west coast of America. Upon returning to Australia, I immersed myself in the world of Art Glass, mastering techniques such as Fusing, Slumping, Painting, Firing, and Glass Sculpture under the mentorship of the esteemed glass artist Norman Birrell at what is now the University of Southern Queensland in 1982.

Transitioning to an educator in 1991, I embarked on extensive teaching tours across the North West of New South Wales, collaborating with institutions such as TAFE Colleges in Inverell, Boggabilla, Warialda Adult Learning, and the Inverell Art Society, as well as participating in Summer and Easter schools at the University of New England in Armidale.

My artistic contributions have been showcased in numerous exhibitions alongside fellow artists in the New England Region. I was honoured to receive the Armidale Heritage Award in 1992 for my significant impact on the glass art community.

Now residing in Inverell, Northern NSW, my studio serves not only as a creative workspace but also as a welcoming space for visitors to drop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, engage in conversation, or explore the intricate art of glass cutting.

Awards & Grants

Recognition

My dedication to heritage led to a Bi-Centennial grant for the restoration of the Anglican Church in Tingha. Among my notable projects are six panels created for the AMP Society's "I am Australian" showcase in Sydney, which celebrate various aspects of Australian culture, as well as decorative etched glass works for the NSW Canterbury Leagues Club and the Rockdale ex-services club.

In 2008, I was commissioned by the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce to design and produce the Business Excellence Awards and the Carnival of Flowers Awards, further highlighting my versatility.

Significant commissions include stained glass works for the Anglican Church in Armidale, the Sacred Heart Church in Inverell, the Armidale Cathedral, and the Chinchilla Church of Christ, where I designed and supplied two stained glass windows for their new building. Additionally, I created a panel for the Russian Orthodox Church at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, complementing their icons in the renovated space. 2024 and I completed an ecclesiastical memorial window for the Bingara Anglican Church, and then undertook the restoration of two ecclesiastical windows at the heritage-listed Old Stone Church in Walcha, blending both artistry and restoration.
