About

Adrenaline and storytelling collide in Country/Rockabilly artist Owen Smith. Born in Tamworth and raised in the Snowy Mountains, Owen is a regional singer-songwriter who is turning the quirks of modern Australian life into a theatrical tour de force. Owen’s latest single, Upper Class Bogan, hit #7 nationally and sat in the Australian Country Charts for seven weeks. He launched it as a headline show at the 2026 Newcastle Fringe Festival acclaimed as “bogan vibes and mullet mayhem”.

Owen is a prolific songwriter who has written with award-winning artists such as Carter & Carter, Lyn Bowtell, Lachlan Bryan, Gretta Ziller, Matt Scullion, and Allan Caswell. Owen is deeply involved in the Australian songwriting community; the Creative Director of the Tamworth Songwriters Hub, host of the Tamworth Open Mic, and a committee member of the Tamworth Songwriters Association. His songs have been finalists in the Vanda & Young, ASA, ABBA and Tamworth Songwriters Awards.

Owen graduated from the CMAA Academy in 2024 making his radio debut with Wild Wild Weather and charting with his single That Old Hills Hoist. He’s reached six continents, clocked up 6k+ radio spins and featured on Apple Music and ABC's Edge of Country. His debut EP, The Snowies, was produced by industry veteran Simon Johnson and features an all star band including Brad Bergen, Liam Kennedy-Clark and Shane Nicholson.

Owen is 2x Grand Finalist for the Australian National Busking Championships. He has performed at multiple festivals, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival where he was chosen as a top pick in The Northern Daily Leader’s guide and was a host of the Toyota Fanzone stage for 2026.
