CrossRoads comes to Moree

Desert Pea Media has been running a youth engagement digital media project in Moree throughout 2023 with young adults, community members and local Indigenous knowledge-holders called "CrossRoads".

Coming up on Saturday 9th December, CrossRoads will culminate in a community celebration event - which fuse traditional performance, multimedia, immersive/site-specific theatre, new media (i.e projection mapping etc) and devising celebration techniques (sculpture, lanterns, and creative structures). The events will weave together the content created during the Crossroads Projects through the year, and incorporate cultural performance from schools and community agencies, arts programs, and presentations from around the region. Celebrating community, country, and culture in an authentic and holistic way.

Meet acclaimed author Suzanne Leal in conversation with journalist Michael Burge at Glen Innes's indie bookshop The Makers Shed on Saturday November 18, 12-1pm.

Suzanne is touring the country with her latest novel The Watchful Wife and this High Country Books author talk is her only event in the New England region. A lawyer experienced in child protection, criminal law and refugee law, Suzanne is a senior member of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and former member of the Refugee Review Tribunal.

Multicultural Christian Christmas Concert

The Multicultural Christian Christmas Concert is a celebration of God's love at this time for all nations. It is a wonderful opportunity to share their unique gifts and talents and also dress up in traditional cultural attire.

It will be a fun evening for everyone, and children are welcome to attend. Our Master of Ceremonies is Mr Tom Melbourne Senior Minister of St Mark's University of New England Church.

Life Drawing Glen Innes

Life drawing sessions once a month, with Live models. Commencing on Sunday 19th November 2023 1pm - 4pm

Fees are $30 per person. Afternoon tea is included.

Artists are required to bring their own Easel, drawing board, paper, pencils, charcoals, pastels and watercolour paints as necessary (No oil paints). Please also bring your own drop sheet for quick and easy clean up at the end of the session.

Sessions are untutored although assistance is available on request.

Improve your drawing skills. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. Artists must be 18 years or over.

We have models signed up for the first 4 months.

We need 13 artists to sign up per session in order to break even. 15 artists would take the pressure of and make us stop worrying.

We are an independent group. A breakdown of the costs to run this event is available on request.

A CONVERSATION WITH HOLLYWOOD ACTING COACH, CHRISTINE MCCLURE

A ‘not to be missed’ afternoon for all budding teen actors, their parents, their teachers and anyone who loves a good story. David Foster will interview Christine McClure about her recently published book, her past students and her coaching methods. She will put her experience to work for us all by sharing her techniques and insight into her dramatic acting classes. You will gain practical tips and exercises that you can use on your own journey as a young actor or as a teacher.

Across the world people are watching shows on the big screen, home screens and on portable smart devices. They see actors in dramatic performances and quite a number of young people are dreaming that they want the chance to do that too. This 90-minute afternoon is intended to demonstrate how those dreams can turn into action.

Christine McClure (stage name Elli Maclure) has more than thirty years of experience coaching actors one-on-one, on set, and in group classes. Her students have appeared in major features and television series and have worked with Oscar-winning directors Steven Soderbergh, Stanley Kubrick, Sofia Coppola, the Coen brothers, and have garnered awards, including Oscars, Emmys, Young Artists.

She began as a young stage and screen actor herself, working with Academy Award–winning talents like Peter Weir, Peter Bogdanovich, John Cassavetes, and Gena Rowlands. Later, she trained with John Lehne of The Actors Studio in the Stanislavski/Strasberg Method. It was then that she discovered her love of teaching, and she has since devoted herself to training young professional actors, many of whom have achieved international fame.

Christine brings thirty years of acting advice to life in one book and to the stage in this conversation.
