October is our Frocktober Fundraiser at The Gallery by Get Framed Armidale… proceeds from sales will be donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. We are working with local photographer Catherine Stephen (OCRF Ambassador) to raise awareness for ovarian cancer and fundraise for this worthy cause. 31 beautiful portraits taken from Catherine will be on display.

Walaaybaa (HOME) is developed by the Gamilaroi community in Kamilaroi/Gomeroi Country, at Tamworth and Tamworth Regional Gallery working with NSW Department of Education’s Arts Unit and the Art Gallery of New South Wales as part of the program Home: Aboriginal art from New South Wales.

Walaaybaa (HOME) is a regional outreach education program that delivers sustained educational content and experiences introducing local Aboriginal art practice to primary and secondary school teachers, students and their wider communities.

Schools exhibiting include: Hillvue Public School, Nemingha Public School, Tintinhull Public School, Moonbi Public School, Tamworth South Public School, Walhallow Public School

This year, schools participated in hands on learning with textile workshops facilitated in the Tamworth Regional Gallery Studio with local artists Sophie Honess and Tania Hartigan. Language workshops were delivered by Uncle Len Waters.

Local students have worked to create individual and groups artworks that reflect their connection to country. We are thrilled with the results that the schools in the Walaaybaa (HOME) program have created and we hope you enjoy this exhibition.

Walaaybaa (HOME) is realised as part of the program Home: Aboriginal art from New South Wales; a partnership since 2015 between Wiradjuri community at Wagga Wagga, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, NSW Department of Education’s Arts Unit and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. More Info

Creative Play is back for Term 4! Tamworth Regional Gallery will be welcoming our smallest members of the community into the Esther Halliday Studio and the gallery for a series of creative and sensory classes on a Thursday morning!

Facilitated by Emma Stilts and Emily Redman, children and parents/caregivers will explore art-making activities together. Including drawing, painting, paper craft, sculpture and more.

Creative play will run for eight consecutive weeks starting from Thursday 19 October. Please book to avoid disappointment.

Kelcie Bryant-Duguid’s ‘The girl who climbed trees’ opens on Friday 20 October at Tamworth Regional Gallery with guest speaker Wendy Roe, Curator of Australian Wearable Art Festival. The exhibition includes wearable art garments, textiles, installation, sculpture, and encaustic mixed media works, featuring a wide repertoire of textile techniques, processes, and applications utilising traditional and non-traditional materials the artist has become known for. Wearable artworks provide a canvas that evoke memories of childhood, represent images of domestic life, and explore the journey of women. Presented by You'll Miss The Tide Productions. The inaugural season of In The Raw, a monthly series of staged play readings, continues with the world premiere, Night Delivery, A mystery play in 2 Acts by Grant Jarrett.

About the play: On a stormy night (Thunder crash!), the off-road Ashton Hotel is where nothing is as it seems! Honeymooners George and Annie never imagined they’d end up in a hotel like this surrounded by strange people - an old woman who runs the hotel, her ‘odd’ nephew and a highly strung young girl in her late teens are all strange in their own quirky way. Added into the mix is a truck driver who is staying over as a guest due to the bad weather. The three guests quickly discover this hotel and its occupants are maybe hiding something... it's all very mysterious! What is the mystery and what is the secret? Solve the mystery! The Ashton Hotel is no place to find yourself on a dark and stormy night, especially when you’re on your honeymoon!

This is the world premiere reading of this mystery play by local Tamworth writer and actor, Grant Jarrett.

Entry is just $20 and audiences are welcome to B.Y.O drinks and nibbles.
