The Arts North West Newsflash will be sent out on fortnightly and includes ANW news, funding opportunities, all the great things that are happening in around our network and more. WELCOME NEW STAFFArts North West would like to welcome two new team members starting in 2023. Jenni Carlin is based in Gunnedah and has been the long-term President of the Gunnedah Club as well as the Vice Chair of the Northern Inland Community College. She has an extensive history of Project Management throughout the New England North West through community service, aged care and disability lens. Emily Page is based in Tamworth and has recently completed her Bachelor of Media through Sothern Cross University and has a strong background in film and media production as well as IT. Emily brings a wealth of energy and customer service skills to the role and has an excellent grasp of social media and website functions. We are excited to bring some fresh ideas and innovative offerings in 2023. |

Arts North West has announced our new project, Reflections. We are seeking two applicants from the New England North West New South Wales who have a passion for photography and/or videography to undertake a mentorship with local media artists Mike Terry and Susie Wicks. Reflections will digitally capture two community workshops and exhibit the digital story of those events at 3 of our largest regional museums and galleries. Applications close: 20 March 2023

'Evicted! A Modern Romance'Arts North West have coordinated a great opportunity for Film fanatics throughout the New England North West with special screenings of a modern Australian flick 'Evicted! A Modern Romance'. A film that takes a satirical look at today’s housing and job market and the hilarious trials and tribulations that come along with it! Writer/director Rowan Devereux, and Producer Sophie Saville will be providing a Q&A at each screening and will host a unique workshop opportunity in Gunnedah! ARTS NORTH WEST ON TOUR: THE END OF WINTER

Arts North West ON TOUR Siren Theatre Co and Critical Stages are pleased to be bringing Noëlle Janaczewska's END OF WINTER to the New England North West. A beautiful and poignant story that asks the question 'What is happening to winter?' In hot, bushfire-prone Australia our winters are becoming warmer and shorter. Will climate change eventually erase the season, leaving it to exist only in paintings, fairytales and historical accounts? The End of Winter is about loss and resilience. It’s about the places the writer goes in search of the cold weather she loves—places she can reach via public transport and the imagination. 21 September 2023 at The Roxy Theatre & Greek Museum, Bingara 23 September 2023 at Glen Innes Chapel Theatre Mark these dates in your calendar and watch this space for ticketing links still to come.

The Bank Art Museum Moree has begun a new community engagement initiative in and around the New England North West region. The project is designed to engagement the local community and aims to promote social cohesion, and the beautification of public spaces while showcasing regional tourism. BAMM’s The Yarn Bombing Project involves wrapping trees in brightly coloured knitted and crocheted scarves in nominated public spaces.

Coloured Pencil Workshop with Jan ClarkSat Mar 11th 9:00am - Sun 12th 3:00pm
New England Regional Art Museum, 106-114 Kentucky St, Armidale NSW 2350, Australia
This workshop is about spending two days totally focused on the exciting possibilities of using coloured pencil, not as a quick sketch, but as a formal medium for finished work. Subtle textures and layering will be explained and the tools and papers used to achieve different effects. Art work by Jan Clark is included in the Illustrating Armidale exhibition showing at NERAM between 3 February and 12 March 2023. This is a 2-day workshop open to all skill levels for anyone 16yrs and over.

CREATE is an annual art based event that’s about community engagement, expression and celebrating innovation; it’s about all things creative. Each year we have a different theme. The theme for 2023 is FLIGHT. As usual, CREATE will have a program that runs over a 16 day period, stretches across the shire and showcases a great range of activities including exhibitions, workshops, street art, light shows, music and an amazing installation in the main auditorium of Narrabri’s Crossing Theatre. The Crossing Theatre is the home of the main exhibition and is used as a backdrop for an unforgettable Opening Night! |

This course will take you through the fundamentals of seeing, mixing colour and layering. Learn many of the skills you need to know to be able to incorporate realism into your works. You will guided step by step in order to achieve what you want on canvas.

Katie Noonan’s new project, Australian Vocal Ensemble - AVÉ uses the human voice to tell the stories of our time and place through song. Four of Australia’s finest vocalists come together in a visionary performance combining heavenly vocals in a chamber setting.

CLOSING DATE: 20 March 2023 Australia Council for the Arts Flourish II – First Nations Textile Design & Fashion Innovation Fund
Aims to build sustainable businesses and support economic, cultural and social development opportunities. Flourish II is open to First Nations individuals, groups and organisations (including Art Centres) working in the textile design & fashion sector and can be used to support innovation, production, capacity building, marketing, professional development, seed funding and increasing digital visibility in the First Nations Textile design and fashion sector.

Offers grants to support NAIDOC celebrations and events within communities across NSW. NAIDOC Grant funding is provided by Aboriginal Affairs NSW to support activities and events in NSW held during NAIDOC Week (2 July – 9 July 2023) that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. The theme for NAIDOC Week in 2023 is For Our Elders.
