Last weekend Arts North West’s Executive Director, Lauren Mackley was invited to judge the Narrabri Art & Craft Society Inc exhibition 'Flights of Fancy' as part of Narrabri's 'Create 2023 - Arts Festival'. Arts North West wishes to congratulate Kaylene McClenaghan for her winning artwork 'The Cost of Our Flights of Fancy', winning the Betty Berriman prize.

The Narrabri Arts and Craft Shed is an amazing space that includes a shopfront, exhibition space and workshop area, made possible by passionate volunteers who are incredibly friendly and inviting. The exhibition is a beautiful showcase of the creativity and talent of Narrabri locals.

This exhibition is part of the larger program of events coordinated by Narrabri Shire Council as part of Narrabri’s ‘Create 2023 – Arts Festival’. There are also exhibitions at The Crossing Theatre Narrabri and the “Barran Barra-y” Fly Boomerang Exhibition at the Wee Waa Community Arts and Cultural Centre, as well as street art throughout the CBD by Chalk The Walk. The exhibitions and Chalk walks are continuing until 26 March 2023.

Arts North West and Tamworth Regional Council are teaming up to deliver a Projection Project in the Fitzroy Street Plaza, Tamworth. The projections will feature animations from local Tamworth artist Daniel Stanley from Tamworth Art Academy. Watch this space for developments!

ANW ENABLE ARTS STEERING COMMITTEE EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Arts North West is seeking an Expression of Interest (EOI) to create our inaugural Arts North West Enable Arts Steering Committee.

The aim of the Arts North West Enable Arts Steering Committee is to provide strategic direction, consultation, and advice to Arts North West when designing and delivering projects and programs, determining priority areas and accessible and inclusive considerations to our service delivery and the organisation as a whole.

If you wish to submit an Expression of Interest in joining the Arts North West Enable Arts Steering Committee, please complete the Expression of Interest form through the button below by 5.00pm 10 April 2023.

'Evicted! A Modern Romance'

Australian flick 'Evicted! A Modern Romance'. A film that takes a satirical look at today’s housing and job market and the hilarious trials and tribulations that come along with it!

Writer/director Rowan Devereux, and Producer Sophie Saville of the award-winning film ‘Evicted! A Modern Romance' will be attending each screening providing a Q&A session.

Deepwater Art Show

The Deepwater Art Show (DART) is an exhibition of regional and interstate artists and a celebration of art, music, food and rural life in the creative community of Deepwater, NSW. DART is staged by Deepwater Art Inc. – a not-for-profit organisation which raises money for Deepwater charities and community groups whilst promoting art and music in Deepwater.

Armidale Art Prize 2023

The Armidale Art Prize offers a rich celebration of inspiration, creativity and involvement in the visual arts. The Community art exhibition features over 100 works with 13 awards distributed to local artists. The Categories are Painting, Daphne Young Works on Paper, Craft Art/Sculpture, the David Davies Impressionist Prize and a People's Choice Award.

The Opening is all about the celebration of local artists and their work. All the works are for sale with the exhibition running until Saturday 6 May.

Wet Felt Hat Workshop

Have you ever wanted to learn how to wet felt or do you need a new hat? Then come along and do both, learn the art of wet felting, and create yourself a fabulous new hat - cloche or small brim style from superfine Australian merino fibers. Before we begin creating your hat you will make a small sample that will be turned into a simple flower brooch. All materials and equipment will be supplied. Introduction to dry point etching one day workshop
10.00am - 4.00pm Friday April 7th
New England Contemporary Print Gallery, 153 Beardy Street, Armidale NSW

An introduction to the joys of dry point etching - make your marks directly onto the plate, massage in the ink, wipe off the excess and print on Lizzie's etching press - easy! This is the simplest form of intaglio printmaking and artist Lizzie Horne will show you how to achieve a variety of effects. No experience necessary, but do bring along some images that you'd like to use. And bring your lunch!

GRANTS AND FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Destination NSW Regional Event Fund – Flagship Event Stream provides event organisers with grants to help them with the costs of marketing and advertising an existing event in regional NSW. The Flagship Event Fund supports the promotion and marketing of events which attract overnight visitations to regional NSW. Events must have been running for more than 2 years, and funding must be spent on marketing initiatives that encourage visitations from outside the region.

Ian Potter Foundation Community Wellbeing Grants seeks to fund initiatives delivered by organisations supporting people with disabilities, or otherwise marginalised individuals primarily with the objective to secure employment pathways.

Charles Allen Charitable Trust Grants supports professional musicians develop their career and delivers conservation programs and raises awareness of the importance of ecological impact (especially migratory birds).

Film New England North West: Trainee Attachment Program and First Nations Attachment Program

Netflix has announced a Trainee Attachment Program and a First Nations Attachment Program for the second season of Heartbreak High, offering five opportunities for entry-level candidates. Applications from candidates are encouraged from those who self-identify as First Nations, Deaf or hard of hearing, living with disability, individuals who are neurodiverse, gender disparity, from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, a caregiver returning to the workforce and those from regional and/or remote areas of Australia.

School Photographer

PSM Photography New England is on the lookout for new team members to help service the New England and North West.

Duties include capturing high quality images of students, individually and in class groups, management of photo files, and interact with student, school staff and parents of students.
