Can you believe we’re already into the second month of 2023? There are so many exciting things happening this year. We hope you enjoy this edition of our e-news.

Start the New Year right by signing up to Arts North West Connect. Its our ArtsNW creative directory - full of local artmakers from around the region.
Are you a painter? Do you make ceramics? A writer? A filmmaker? A musician even?
Arts North West Connect is a great way to network with other artmakers in and around the region.

The ArtsNW office based in Glen Innes is open Tuesday to Thursday, 9am - 4:30pm.

Last week Arts North West delivered the final leg of our CreativiTEA Printmaking workshops in Bundarra, Drake, Torrington and Ben Lomond. CreatiTEA has been running since early 2022 as a chance for women in bushfire-affected communities to connect through creativity and a cup of tea. Every session has been an astounding success with so many amazing prints and connections made.

We are incredibly grateful to all of our wonderful participants and our incredible facilitator Lizzie Horne. Lizzie has been incredibly kind, passionate, and dedicated to helping Arts North West deliver this program. We also thank her amazing assistants Glenda Parmenter and Liz Powell as well as all of the village halls committees and community organisations who supported and assisted us in each community and were always wonderful hostesses.

Thanks as well to Julie Ward of HNEH, and Chris Connor from HealthWISE, who were there to holistically support women's health and facilitate community-based creative recovery.

JOIN THE ABORIGINAL ARTS STEERING COMMITTEE
EOI’s OPEN NOW!

The NENW Aboriginal Arts Steering Committee will support Arts North West with cultural guidance and decision-making, strategic planning, advice and feedback and will be developing respectful and sustainable relationships based on trust and respect for our cultural values and our histories.

The NENW Aboriginal Arts Steering Committee will comprise two Aboriginal volunteer representatives from each of the contributing LGAs in our region.

Luritja, Pintupi and Pitjantjatjara artist Kunmanara Carroll draws inspiration from his paternal homeland and explores themes surrounding the passing of knowledge in this collection of paintings and ceramics.

A Canopy of Leaves

An exhibition of wood engravings, linocuts, etchings, mokuhanga woodblock prints and more by some of Australia's leading printmakers alongside emerging and established local artists. Free entry.

To celebrate NERAM’s 40th anniversary, we welcome the Seniors Festival for the month of February 2023. Launching with an opening night on the 3rd of February.

Coventry Noir Soundscapes: Enjoy music and an interactive worksheet in the Coventry Noir exhibition from Tuesday 21st February, Wednesday 22nd February, Thursday 23rd February, 10am-4pm. No bookings are required

Hear from musician and music teacher Deidre Rickards OAM and enjoy a cup of tea, Thursday 23rd February 11am- 12pm.

Short Course Observational Painting

Local artist and educator Leah Bullen will teach a 3 week course in observational painting. This course is designed for those with minimal painting experience and for students who have completed the recent introduction to painting.

In this course students will develop existing painting skills using their preference of Oil or Acrylic paints. The studio exercises will focus on observational painting and the handling of tonal and colour values and relationship to composition.

Kids Workshop | Surprise! Monsters! Explore the gallery and let your imagination run wild!

What secret monsters might be lurking in the gallery? In this workshop students will explore the artworks and use them to spark their imagination to create monsters. Your child will explore different mediums such as found objects, paper and paint to create a collaged monster they can take home and enjoy. Throughout the workshop we will create a story and develop a front cover for a picture book based on their monster. This is a hands-on messy workshop so please make sure your children are dressed appropriately.

The Andalusian Guitar Show

Embodying the unmistakeable Jerez style of flamenco guitar playing, PACO LARA presents the flamenco guitar in all it’s authenticity, culture and artistry. Acclaimed Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Lara presents his album “ THE ANDALUSIAN GUITAR SHOW “ which includes some of the finest musicians from Spain and Australia.

Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal - Strengthening Rural Communities – Rebuilding Regional Communities
This funding opportunity provides small remote, rural, and regional communities access to potential funds for a broad range of projects that directly benefit local communities. This opportunity is directly funded by the Australian Government. The program aims to distribute $5 million during 2023-2024 to aid in the support of community led projects.

CREATENSW -  Regional Arts Touring - Arts and Cultural Funding Program 2022/23
CreateNSW has funding available for tours of all artforms including performing arts, music, visual arts, literature, history, museums and multi-arts. This funding oppitunity is available for touring activities involving musicians, theatre groups, artists and performers based in regional NSW or for people delivering performances and displays in regional NSW.

Australian Council of the Arts - Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups
This program funds a range of activities that benefits the wider community and arts sector. Available grants range from $10,000 to $50,000. This funding may be used for activities such as professional and creative development, residencies, exhibitions, productions and collaborations. It may also be used for publishing, recording, touring and community engagement projects.

 Regional Arts NSW - QUICK RESPONSE GRANTS
These grants are delivered monthly from February to November with applications competitively assessed at the end of each month. Individuals can apply for up to $3000 and organisations can apply for up to $5000. This funding is designed to assist in the finance opportunities at short notice – this includes professional and skills development as well as small project opportunities.

BAMM is currently on the lookout for their newest team member! Are you passionate about the arts? Are you a people person who enjoys working in a flexible environment? Then this role might be for you or someone you know.

The successful applicant to BAMM’s Education Assistant role will demonstrate a passion for engaging with a variety of audiences, excellent customer service skills and an ability to work in a flexible working environment. The applicant must have basic computer skills and can learn new computer skills quickly. Specifically, this role requires the use of social media, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite. Training will be provided to the successful applicant.
