ARTS NORTH WEST WELCOMES OUR NEW ABORIGINAL ARTS OFFICER TO THE TEAM!

Arts North West would like to welcome Robert Hartigan to the team in the role of Aboriginal Arts Officer.

Robert is a Gamilaroi man, emerging music composer. He completed his Bachelor in Music Composition and Production at the Australian Institute of Music. As a Gamilaroi man, he brings a unique cultural perspective to his work, with connections to his local community and a drive to authentically share First Nations culture, history, and stories.

Rob is dedicated to creating spaces and platforms that promote indigenous voices and narratives, showcasing the richness of First Nations heritage.

MYALL CREEK MEMORIAL EVENTS 2024

Gather & Trade: Aboriginal Artisan Micro Markets + Myall Creek Memorial Exhibition

In 2024 Arts North West is partnering with Ceramic Break Sculpture Park in Warialda to deliver the ‘Myall Creek Memorial Exhibition’ and ‘Gather and Trade: Aboriginal Artisan Micro Markets’ as part of the Myall Creek Commemoration events.

The memorial events pay tribute to the strength and resilience of First Nations people in the face of devastating colonial actions. While this event is an amazing opportunity for communities to recover, reconcile, and share works and art, we do ask that all participants please research the history of the event and be aware of the serious nature of this day. Please refer to www.myallcreek.org for further information on the history.

📌If you would like to be part of this historical event , register as a performer, workshop facilitator or stallholder for the ‘Gather and Trade: Aboriginal Artisan Micro Markets’ complete the stallholder application below by 5.00pm Thursday 6 June, 2024.

📌If you would like to contribute artworks to the ‘Myall Creek Memorial Exhibition’ complete the artwork application and register your artwork submission form by Thursday 23 May, 2024.

VISUAL STORYTELLING + PERSONAL BRAND WORKSHOP WITH THE LOCAL JOBS PROGRAM

Unlock your potential and stand out in today's competitive job market with the Visual Storytelling and Personal Brand workshop.

This 3 hour workshop equips participants with:

⭐ Essential digital media skills to enhance any workplace

⭐ Awareness of digital footprint and strategies to craft their personal brand to enhance future employment opportunities

⭐ Practical experience making strategic video content for social media

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate for their resume.

Cost: $0 - this opportunity has been fully subsidised by the Local Jobs Program, Arts North West and the UNE SRI.

THE TRAIL OF LIGHT AND SOUND IS TAKING OVER TABULAM FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Join Realartworks.Inc, Tabulam artists, community members and Arts North West on a performative trail of light and sound through the streets of Tabulam from 6.00pm Saturday 25 May, 2024.

See the everyday transformed through vibrant Interactive installations, live theatre and original music exploring the notion of Home. The trail will feature light projections, transformative soundscapes, poetry, performance art and much much more! Come along and be part of this immersive and experiential arts experience.
