Love Letters

Love Letters
Capitol Theatre Tamworth
Level 1, Centrepoint, Peel St, Tamworth

 Sunday 4 December, 2016 - 3pm

Love Letters, by acclaimed author A.R.Gurney, is centred around a man and a woman who, in spite of distance and circumstance, write letters to each other from childhood to middle-age, through marriages and divorces, successes, failures and clashing careers.

The beauty of this elegant piece for the audience is that it is imbued with realism, naturalism, humour, affection, warmth, romance & tragedy. The beauty of it for the actors is that they are able to read these letters in the way that intimate love letters should be read, in the seclusion of their own private space.

The passion of their shared love is palpable as the letters they pen reach across to each other from city to city and country to country. Melissa and Andy say virtually all there is to be said between lovers about life, love, highs, lows and personal destiny... but in this narrative the trivial remark often reveals something much deeper.
