Wimble's Wayzgoose - Screenprinting workshop with Ms Brown's Lounge
New England Regional Art Museum
106-114 Kentucky St, Armidale
10.00am - 4.30pm Saturday 29 April 2017
In this (one day) workshop Joanna & Darren from Ms Browns Lounge will guide students through the process of creating their own unique Screenprinted A2 poster using pre-exposed screens with specially constructed images created for this workshop, along with their own stencil cut images. Students will choose, arrange, compose these images and screenprint in different overlays and multiple colours.
Students will get a fantastic basic introduction to the screenprinting process including how to create stencil cut images, composition and overlays, split fountain and colour combinations, as well as gain knowledge about different inks and equipment used in screenprinting. Using the proof prints that will be made onto proofing paper, (which will be done while gaining experience in the process before going to ‘good’ poster paper) Joanna & Darren, will hand fold and bind a special ‘collaborative’ zine from these that will be sent to the participating students after the weekend as a extra special ‘souvenir’ from the Wayzgoose weekend.
Ms Browns Lounge is the printmaking duo of Darren Bryant & Joanna Kambourian. Darren is Associate Lecturer in Printmaking at Southern Cross University and Joanna manages the Lismore Art Space studios in the Northern Rivers of NSW, also home to the recently launched Northern Rivers chapter of Work-Shop Australia.
