Cool Choir begins their inaugural Summer Season on Sunday, February 4th at the Deepwater School of Arts Hall and invites participants from surrounding the area (e.g. Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Emmaville, Torrington, Stannum, Dundee)
The aim of this project is to create a safe and inclusive community choir, generating new levels of community support, social connections,
Group singing can produce satisfying and therapeutic sensations, leaving people feeling relaxed, happy and connected.
Cool Choir encourages all community members, regardless of age, gender, employment status, ability or singing experience.
Conductor Cathy Welsford from Armidale will lead the choir through a fun musical couple of hours from 1 pm to 3 pm, when a light afternoon tea will be served.
The cost is only $5 p/p, being heavily subsidised through a grant from NSW Department of Family & Community Services (FACS) who engaged the National Choral Association to deliver Sing Your Age project, as part of the NSW Ageing Strategy 2016 – 2020.
Cool Choir Summer Season workshops are scheduled for February 4th, 18th & 25th; March 11th & 25th and April 15th and will break for the school holidays. Autumn Season workshops are yet to be scheduled.
The Deepwater ukulele group will also meet on the same dates at the same venue, commencing at 11 am (after the choir workshop and luncheon) at a reduced cost from 2017 of only $10 p/p
