Co-Opera Presents Eugene onegin
Gunnedah Town Hall, Conadilly Street
2nd April 2017 @ 5:30pm for a 6pm start.
Description: From the composer that brought us classics such as The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous and tragic opera Eugene Onegin will be brought to the Gunnedah Town Hall for an amazing night of romance and drama backed by glorious music, rich costumes, compelling sets and elegant dances. Presented by the Co-Opera, this very special production draws us into the world of Eugene Onegin, a man with movie star good looks, money, and the world at his feet, but where none of these privileges can save him from himself.
The Co-Opera, having celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2016, have described Eugene Onegin as somewhat of a pinnacle piece for the company as they bring a taste of big city culture to the bush with a range of emerging talents.
Although a Russian classic, the Co-Opera will bring an English version to their audience, with select pieces performed in Russian to capture the beauty of the original performance.
Audiences will be swept away by the craft of these highly talented artists bringing the story to life through rich music, emotional colour and movement as they recapture Tchaikovsky’s expressive genius as the heartbreaking story of missed opportunity and unrequited love unfolds.
"Eugene Onegin" is as relevant today as it was when Tchaikovsky put music to the beautiful dramatic poem of the same name by Pushkin.
The performance will be held at the Gunnedah Town Hall on Sunday 2nd April 2017. Doors open at 5:30pm for a 6pm start.
