Top Ten Tips for Creatives
Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries. She helps individuals improve their business skills, and works with larger organisations facilitating workshops and mentoring programs. Monica is an also an author, filmmaker and speaker, and in 2013 was appointed as the first NSW Creative Industries Business Advisor. Making money from creativity is an exciting challenge, and this workshop covers the ten most important things that any creative person needs to address when starting an art-based business.
1. One-on-one arts/business advice with Regional Arts Development Officer, Caroline Downer. You will be allocated a time slot to come and discuss an arts project or event you would like to organise. You might like to discuss tips on project management, planning, budgets, partners, promotion, funding sources including crowdsourcing, or more logistics planning such as insurance, branding or business plans.
2. Digital Readiness workshop, BEC Digital Support Advisor will be presenting on business essentials including a checklist for assessing your digital communication and finance needs.
3. Clever committees with Monica Davidson get tips on how to get the best from your community organisations, defining roles for your volunteer committee members, setting clear responsibilities and goals and tips on business basics.
A FREE networking session for the whole arts and creative community. A chance to meet, mingle, introduce yourself, make contacts and maybe even kick start future collaborations.
